CYA offers a Spring basketball program for all those in Grades 4-12 (due to gym space limitations, we cannot run programs for 1st-3rd grade in the Spring). Although the exact season start and end dates have not yet been finalized (see below), Spring basketball will run essentially from mid- April until early or mid-June, with teams playing the same number of regular season games (9 or 10) as in the Winter season and participating in end of season tournaments. Due to the shortness of the Spring season, those in the upper grades (7-12 grade) will have a limited number of pre-season practices and then go to two games per week (either one weeknight game and one weekend game or two weekend games). Those in the elementary grades (4-6) will have one weekday practice and one weekend game until near the end of the season, at which time they two may go to 2 games per week (depending upon gym availability). Games will be played in local area schools and at the Hoop Magic Basketball Academy in Chantilly.

Online registration began on January 5th and runs through the end of February. Late registration begins March 1st and now runs until midnight on March 22nd. Beginning 12:01 AM on March 23rd, registrations will only be accepted for leagues that still have space; all others will be placed on a waiting list. Registration is $120 plus the $5.50 Fairfax County fee and $10.00 indoor facilities capital improvement fee for a total of $135.50; a late fee of $25 is added after March 1.

Note that players who participated in the FCYBL travel program or played for their HS team are eligible to participate in the Spring program, along with the normal house players. CYA also accepts individual players who played for other youth clubs during the Winter season (pre-formed teams from other clubs are not allowed). Full or partial scholarships are available for those families in need.

We are currently in the process of planning the dates and locations for Spring skills assessments for those leagues that hold them -- our aim is to hold these prior to FCPS Spring break if possible. Dates and locations will be announced as soon as these are finalized. Some leagues may start practices prior to Spring break, while others will begin practices right after Spring break. The planned start of games is the weekend of April 18-19.
