Are you ready?!

 

By this week, some of you have already started with practices. We will have about a week off due to school closures for Spring Break and will start back up during the week of April 10^th. If you have not yet heard from your coach, please let me know.

 

This week, I am working on making sure all players are where they need to be. As of today, I am not able to consider any new requests. I am now working on the schedule for the season and will get that to your coaches as soon as I can.

 

As we begin the season, please remember the following:

 

• Players MUST attend practices and games for the team to which they were assigned (no exceptions).
• Parents, players, and coaches must be respectful to each other, to our referees, and to our schools/facilities and their staff.
• Players and parents are not allowed to wander around our facilities. For FCPS, we are only allowed in the gym and in the nearest restroom.
• Please learn how to put up the nets and help your coaches with setting them up or taking them down, collecting volleyballs, and storing equipment.
• Make sure you take everything you brought with you, including any trash. NO FOOD OR DRINKS ASIDE FROM WATER IS ALLOWED IN THE FCPS GYMS!
• Players are required to bring a ball with their name and phone number on it and they are responsible for taking their ball with them when they leave.
• Please arrive on time, ready to play, with water or a water bottle to fill. You cannot drink out of the fountain.
• Players must be picked up on time. They will not be allowed to leave by themselves or wait outside alone.
• If practicing or playing at The Fieldhouse, no outside chairs are allowed.
• Alerts about school closures and other important information will come by email. Please check your email often, and definitely just before practices or games in case there are any changes. This is very important because, unfortunately, schools are allowed to take our space at any time.

 

JERSEYS:

 

Jerseys for those in grades 5-12 are all purple this season. Jerseys will NOT be distributed at the practices or games. If you do not have a purple jersey or need a new one, please visit The Fieldhouse at 14810 Murdock St in Chantilly to pick one up PRIOR TO APRIL 15^TH, which is when our games will start. Jerseys for those in grades 2-4 will be distributed by the coaches after the first practice on Wednesday, April 12^th.

We are busy finalizing the details for the upcoming Spring 2023 season and more details will be available soon. Team assignments will be communicated after March 19^th and practices will begin shortly after. Games will begin on April 15^th.

Middle School Girls TRAVEL level assessments. Actively registered, experienced players only!

 

Saturday, March 18^th at The Fieldhouse, 14810 Murdock St, in Chantilly.

SELECT level assessments for our grades 5-6^th (COED) group, Middle School Girls, and High School Girls. Actively registered, experienced players only!

 

                8:30-9:20am     – Middle School Girls (grades 7-8) with last names ending in A-G

                9:25-10:15am   – Middle School Girls (grades 7-8) with last names ending in H-N

                10:20-11:10am – Middle School Girls (grades 7-8) with last names ending in N-Z

 

                11:30am-12:25pm – High School Girls with last names ending in A-M 

                12:30-1:25pm          - High School Girls with last names ending in N-Z

 

                1:30-2:25pm  -  Grades 5-6 (COED) with last names ending in A-M

                2:30-3:25pm  -  Grades 5-6 (COED) with last names ending in N-Z

               

If this is your player’s first time playing volleyball in a team setting, they should not attend assessments. We will place them on a house team based on their availability. If there are any days they are NOT available for practices, please email aday@chantillyyouth.org with their availability and I will update their registration. It is almost impossible to make changes after the teams have been assigned.

Registration is open for our Spring 2023 season! The cost for the Spring 2023 season is $180 per player. Beginning on FEBRUARY 20th, a $25 late fee will be added. After February 19th, players will be added on a space available basis only and will only be allowed to attend assessments if they are actively registered, paid, and not waitlisted. Registration will close on FEBRUARY 28th. Players who attempt to register on or after February 28th will be waitlisted, only to be added if space is available. To ensure team placement, avoid late fees, and receive important and timely information regarding travel and select assessments, please register as soon as possible and by February 19th! When registering for CYA Volleyball, please note any days your player is unavailable in the "special request" section or email me to add a note for you.

Those who are applying for FINANCIAL AID must submit the application and all documents by FEBRUARY 18th. Any applications submitted after this date will not be considered. 

**We are looking for volunteers to coach house and select level teams! If interested, please register as a volunteer in our system, noting any preferences or days you are unavailable, and/or contact April Day at aday@chantillyyouth.org  ASAP!

 

CYA Volleyball is recruiting Referees for the upcoming Spring 2023 season.  We require our referees to be at least 13 years old and be confident, responsible, and very reliable. We pay per match refereed. If you prefer to receive volunteer hours in lieu of pay, that can be arranged.

Referees must attend at least one training session! Here are the upcoming sessions for this season: 

Friday, March 3rd (Fieldhouse, 5:30pm)

Saturday, March 4th (Rocky Run, 12pm)

Monday, March 6th (Rachel Carson, 7pm)
