Middle school BOYS will have their first assessment/practice on Friday, September 10th from 6-7:30pm at the Fieldhouse.  Players must be registered for Boys Fall 2021 Volleyball in order to attend.

High school BOYS, please look for more information from your coach via email.

CYA Fall 2021 Volleyball Update - 8/23/2021

Boys and Girls in Grades 2-4

Our Grades 2-4 program is co-ed.  There are no formal assessments.  When registered players attend their first practice (TBA, but should begin the week of September 13th) they will be separated into teams.  This group will have one practice per week and a game or practice/scrimmage on Saturdays.  Coaches are still needed!

Boys and Girls in grades 5-6

Our grades 5-6 program is co-ed.  We will be holding assessments on Saturday, August 28th from 2-3pm for those whose last names begin with A-L and from 3-4pm for those whose names begin with M-Z. We will be attempting to form evenly skilled teams, so it is very important for players to attend these assessments.  Evenly skilled teams make for a more fun and exciting season!  Coaches are still needed!

**Boys in 6th grade may opt to be assessed for a middle school boys’ team.  This assessment will be held on Friday, August 27 from 7:30-8:30pm at The Fieldhouse.  If you would like to be assessed for a middle school boys’ team, please contact me at aday@chantillyyouth.org.

Middle School Girls, Grades 7-8

Exciting news for this group!  CYA is offering different levels of play this season in this age group only.  Please read on for details on the different levels of play, in addition to the assessment schedule for the upcoming weekend.

To be considered for the Travel or Select levels of play, you must attend the assessments!  All assessments will be held at The Fieldhouse in Chantilly.

  • Travel Assessment:  Friday, August 27th from 6-7:30pm
  • Select Assessment with last names ending A-L:   Saturday, August 28th from 4-5pm
  • Select Assessment with last names ending M-Z:  Saturday, August 28th from 5-6pm

Middle School Girls TRAVEL team:

This is for more advanced players and local travel around Fairfax County will be necessary. There will be 1-2 practices per week.  The first practice will be held at The Fieldhouse in Chantilly on Tuesday, August 30th.  Once we receive our gym allocations from FCPS, the practices will likely switch to Mondays.  After the first week of practice, this team will have 1-2 practices per week and they will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays or Saturdays.  Games are on Wednesday evenings.  If you are unable to attend on any of these days, you should not try out for this team.  The assessment for this middle school travel team will be held at The Fieldhouse this Friday, August 27th, from 6-7:30pm.  Attendance is mandatory!  Invitations will be sent out by email after the assessments and must be accepted by 9am on Saturday, August 28th.  If you do not respond by this time, your spot will be given to another player.  If you are not chosen for the travel team, you can attend the select assessments on Saturday, August 28th.

Middle School Girls SELECT teams:

This is for more experienced players who may not have as much time or who do not wish to travel.  There will be one practice per week, which we hope to start during the week of September 6th.  This may have to be postponed to the following week depending on when FCPS approves our gym allocations. Usually, we have our allocations much earlier but, due to COVID-19, they felt it was necessary to wait until school began to make their decisions. Games will be held on Saturdays. To be considered for a select team, you must attend the assessment on Saturday, August 28th!  It will be held at The Fieldhouse. If you are not chosen for a select team, you will be automatically placed on a house team.  Please let me know prior to assessments if there are any days you are not available.  This is very important because after a player is placed, it is very difficult to make changes.

Middle School Girls HOUSE teams:

There will be no assessments for house teams.  Players will be assigned based on their availability, so please let me know if there are any days your player is not available for practices.  This is very important because after a player is placed, it is very difficult to make changes. There will be one practice per week, which we hope to start during the week of September 6th.  This may have to be postponed to the following week depending on when FCPS approves our gym allocations. Usually, we have our allocations much earlier but due to COVID-19, they felt it was necessary to wait until school began to make their decisions. Games will be held on Saturdays.

Coaches are still needed!!

If you have any questions, please contact April Day at aday@chantillyyouth.org.

We have some exciting news about boys’ volleyball!  We have decided to enter our middle school boys into the NoVA Boys Volleyball League, https://www.novaboysvb.org/es-ms-boys.  This will allow our boys to play against other local recreational boys’ volleyball teams from Fairfax and possibly Arlington counties. They will have at least one practice locally on a weeknight and games will be on Saturdays.  The games will rotate around Fairfax or Arlington counties, depending on who they are playing.

Those with last names beginning with A-L are scheduled for 6-7pm and those with last names beginning with M-Z are scheduled for 7-8pm.  We will be attempting to form even teams, so it is important for the players to attend the assessments.  Coaches are still needed!

High School Boys

Assessments will be held at the Fieldhouse on Thursday, September 2nd from 7:30-9:00pm.

All players must be registered for CYA Fall Volleyball to attend the assessment.  It is important for all registered players attend this assessment so we can plan how to best proceed with this season. For our high school boys, we have some exciting opportunities in the works!  We are working out all of the details and will be updating you with more information this week.

CYA Volleyball Update - 8/1/2021

CYA Volleyball Families,

We were so excited that even though we had to change our program a bit due to Covid 19, the Spring 2021 season went off with very few hitches and we are all looking forward to an awesome Fall season! At this time, we are planning to start practices during the week of September 6th. Games will likely start on September 11th. We will be able to confirm once we receive our gym allocations from the county.

Practice Schedule

All teams will have one practice during the week. Individual coaches will notify their teams which day and time they will practice. Practice days and times are determided by how many coaches and players are registered, as well as our FCPS gym assignments. We typically do not know exact practice days/times until right before the season begins. During registration, please feel free to note any days you are not available. While we try to accommodate all requests, sometimes it is not possible. Coaches will notify players of practice days/times after player assessments.

Jerseys are provided and will be distributed by the coaches prior to the first games

Volleyball Assessments

This season, we are planning to offer volleyball for boys and girls in grades 2 - high school.  Our program is usually co-ed for players in grades 2-6. It is very important that you register as soon as possible so we can plan a successful and competitive Fall 2021 season! Player assessments are scheduled for August 27th and 28th at the Fieldhouse in Chantilly. More details to come!

Important Information!

We will update our Covid 19 protocals closer to the start of the season, as needed and according to CDC, state, local and FCPS restrictions/regulations. At this time, masks are not required for anyone engaged in physical activity. All others must wear masks. As far as spectators at games are concerned, we will have to go by whatever FCPS allows this Fall. Spectators are never allowed at assessments or practices.

CYA Volleyball Overhaul!

EXCITING NEWS FOR CYA VOLLEYBALL!

LogoDescription automatically generatedThrough careful analysis over the past couple of years, we have determined that it is time to make some changes to our program in order to accommodate future growth.  As part of the CYA 50th Anniversary Celebration, CYA Volleyball is being Re-Branded and Overhauled!

In order to make this process a success, we need your help!  We are reaching out to all of our volleyball families and asking for help in establishing the new CYA Volleyball Management structure.

Initially, we need to establish an operating committee.  Next, we will need to identify coaches for both recreational and eventually club level teams.  Our Spring 2021 season was a huge success and we are looking forward to an even better Fall 2021 season!

Our goal is to establish and develop a program that allows players to grow and compete at various levels suitable for individual skill ability. The CYA Fieldhouse provides a year round home for CYA Volleyball and will give us a place to hold camps and clinics during the off season.

If you are interested in growing with us, please reach out to April Day at aday@chantillyyouth.org.  April has offered to take on the administrative role in an effort to gather information and put together Zoom Meetings over the coming weeks as the process moves forward.

Get ready CYA!  This is going to be a rewarding year for us and when it’s done, the foundation for our future will be in place.  How exciting is that!?
