John Kimener
John was one of the founders of the Chantilly Youth Association (CYA) Lacrosse Program in 1988. He served as CYA Lacrosse Commissioner and as a CYA Youth Lacrosse Coach (for both boys and girls lax teams) with CYA Youth Lacrosse, from 1989 - 2006. He was also very involved as a coach with CYA football during that time period. No one has done more to support the growth of the Game in Northern VA or sacrificed more time to help with the growth and development of youth athletes in our area.
John served as an off-season volunteer coach with Oakton HS boys and girls Lacrosse programs through the as his six children matriculated through Oakton HS. John grew up locally and attended Bishop OConnell HS and then attended Xavier U, where he graduated in 1974, with a BA in History, before starting a long career with the Dept of the Navy. Upon retirement from the Dept of the Navy, where he worked as a Contracting Officer for over 43 years, John joined the coaching staff at Paul VI as a JV assistant coach.
John was a great man and a great role model Husband, Father, Grandfather, Coach and Friend for our players and coaches to follow. He moved to the VA Beach area a year ago with his wife, Carole, to be close to one of his sons and 4 grandchildren... and to help his son out as a Coach with the local Youth Lacrosse program that his grandchildren participated in and as an assistant coach (serving with his son, Mark) at Bishop Sullivan HS.
John leaves behind his dear wife, Carol, 4 sons (Mark, PJ, Timmy, Terry), 2 daughters (Kelly & Ashley), 18 grandchildren, countless friends and countless current/ former players in the local lacrosse community, whose lives he positively impacted.
